While working on my latest 2D Design project, I was introduced to the artist Robert Longo. He's been working since the '70s, mostly in sculpture, painting and drawing. His most well-known series is Men in the Cities, which are graphite drawings of men and women in business attire while contorting with emotion. My 2D project is going to deal with reality and perception in some way and I'll likely be using my own photographs based off Men in the Cities, which is based off of photographs made by Longo (check out the book Men in the Cities if you get the chance.) I plan on doing a proper photo series in the near future with Longo's work as my jumping off point. See more of Longo's work here.
My beginning images for 2D:
All images taken October 18, 2010 in Rochester, New York.
These images are more about form and aren't intended to be a part of my future photo series. They are merely a starting off point. Any suggestions on how to take it further for my intended series are more than welcome.
